Windows / PC installation
1. Confirm that Java is installed
CafeTran requires Java to be installed to run. It is recommended that you
download the 64-bit version of Java for Windows.
If you do not know whether or not you have Java installed, see: Do I have Java?. If you do not have Java installed, then you should download the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). If you have 32-bit Java installed, please update it to 64-bit version (Windows 64-bit).
2. Install CafeTran Espresso
After downloading, click CafeTran-install.jar to install the program.

If for some reason the system does not permit you to install CafeTran in the default installation folder, please click the “Browse” button in Step 3 of the installation panel to change the installation folder (e.g. in your home folder).
There are some programs that can break Java .jar files association (e.g. Nokia phone suite), which can in turn stop CafeTran’s installer from working. The quickest way to fix it is to download and run the
Jarfix program to restore the default Java .jar file associations. After fixing it, run the CafeTran installer again.
3. Run the Program
Click the CafeTran Espresso icon on your desktop to run the program!
Note that with very
large resources, for example translation memories or glossaries 100 MB or more in size, it is advisable to increase the amount of RAM made available to CafeTran in Java. This can be done in the program’s options (menu Edit | Options | Memory tab | Java memory size (MB).) Consider increasing the default value from 1024 to 2048, for example. Restart the program to apply the new Java memory settings.
